Frankie Loyde’s 1982 entry into the world was greeted by the sound of the maternity hospital radio blasting out the Sunny Boys new single “Happy Man.” Her father, ARIA Hall of Fame Inductee and famed guitarist Lobby Loyde, best known for his legendary and innovative contribution to Australian rock‘n’roll in the 70’s, had just finished producing their classic debut album, when the little baby with the mouth that stretched from Chicago to Manhattan, virtually sprung into action tap dancing to the beat of that vibrant music.
Before she was even born she had music echoing through her mother’s belly. She went to all the gigs in Sydney that year; Cold Chisel, Dragon, Mental as Anything, Machinations, X, and countless Rose Tattoo performances featuring her Dad on bass. In fact the night she was born, her mother, model and actress Debbie Nankervis, was presented with a special baby present from Lobby – two giant speaker boxes! She could not help but inherit a passion for music.

Before she turned one Frankie was already on the road and growing up in Melbourne. Her first foray into the world of entertainment was as a Heinz baby in a TV commercial. At 5 she presented the band ‘Pony’ on Countdown and danced to the Painters and Dockers’ hit ‘Kill Kill Kill’ in a pink tutu. She wrote her first song ‘Cats’ at 6, and appeared in the 1990 movie “What the Moon Saw” with Gary Sweet, Kym Gyngell and Danielle Spencer when she was 8.
Throughout her school years Frankie studied Music, Drama and Dance, with lead roles fuelling her desire to work in the world of entertainment. She enrolled in the Australian Talent School to develop her singing and performed on various occasions, including the Christmas Carols by Candlelight and entertaining travellers on the Puffing Billy. By far her biggest performance to date was singing in front of 3000 people at her father’s benefit concert the year before he passed away in 2007. Sadly her next performances were at her infamous rock Godfather Ian Rilen’s funeral singing ‘Amazing Grace’, and Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ at her beloved father’s.

Frankie’s demo album Roses and Rain is dedicated to the memory of her father. She writes her own material in the style of blues and jazz with an edgy pop feel. Although very contemporary, there are undisputed influences by the old greats such as Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and Billie Holiday.
For the past few years, Frankie has travelled back and forth to Los Angeles to further enhance her performance skills. She has worked with a number of vocal coaches, completed an acting course and studied dance. Most recently she has worked with renowned Broadway vocal coach Bob Garrett with her sights firmly set on musical theatre.
